FIRST week of FEBRUARY and it’s FULL of FUN!

Re-enrollment packets go home tomorrow and are due on Friday, February 16!

Few things of to consider:

  • We did start a waitlist for nap and day room this year.  We highly recommend choosing a full day program if you think that your child may stay until 3:00 pm.  Please do not rely on drop-in space.
  • There was a waitlist for Piano this year.  Don’t forget that Suzuki Violin starts in Second Year Primary.  Also, both Suzuki teachers lead a Pre-twinkle class for First Year Primary students.  Don’t miss out. Enroll by choosing these programs on your contract.
  • The 2018-2019 school year is SPMA’s 50th Anniversary!  You don’t want to miss this GOLDEN and HISTORIC year!
  • Finally, we have a lengthy list of new applicants for the school year and summer camp.  Out of fairness to them, we will begin open enrollment for both programs on schedule.  Return yours soon!

If you have any questions or would like to meet to discuss the upcoming year, please do not hesitate to email Melinda to schedule a time.

January coming to an end!

Thank you to all of the parents, student presenters, and staff for a wonderful evening tonight!  We hope that you enjoyed SPMA: The Right Choice.  Please send any comments/suggestions/questions/feedback to Melinda so that we can continue the dialogue and fine-tuning of future parent education nights.  Thank you also to Sarah Baird, Krista Dunton, and Elise Wiseman for their donations of treats and libations for the evening!  Handouts and flyers from the event will be available during conferences and then posted on the website.

At the end of the evening, we unveiled the BRAND NEW ATHLETICS LOGO for Sea Pines Montessori Academy!  If you were unable to attend, you can see the new GATORS logo during morning arrival.  Look for the giant banner at the front of school.  GO GATORS!

Re-enrollment packets will go out next Monday and will be due on Friday, February 16.  Thank you for your patience.  Though we hated to delay them, our priority was in staffing the classrooms and remaining open during this heinous flu season.  We look forward to a healthier week at school!  If you have specific questions that were not addressed at SPMA: The Right Choice, please feel free to stop in Mrs. Cotter’s office during the next two weeks.  Conferences present a perfect opportunity to touch base!

Reminder: This Thursday, February 1 is a half-day for all students.  Lower School (and any Upper School siblings) will dismiss at 11:30 am, followed by Upper School at Noon.  School is closed on Friday, February 2. Don’t forget to sign-up for a conference.  It’s not too late!

Pizza forms are due on Friday.  If you have not already, please bring them in during your child’s conference.  They can be handed to the office or left in your child’s classroom.  Thank you!  The 6th grade students leave for Model United Nations in NYC in just over 6 weeks and rely on (and appreciate) proceeds from the pizza sales!

In lieu of tomorrow’s previously scheduled parent education, please join us next Tuesday, January 30 from 5:30-6:30 pm.  Childcare will be provided.  This fun, one hour snapshot will include a brief presentation by students, a review of commonly asked classroom/school/Montessori questions, an opportunity to discuss enrichment programs with our Suzuki violin/piano teachers, Art, Music, Spanish, and Athletics staff, which will be followed by a large group meeting.  Attendees receive a $100 2018-2019 tuition credit (per child) with a returned re-enrollment contract by the due date.

An RSVP card was sent home last week.  If yours has been misplaced, please notify the office (chrisharris @ or call us.  We need accurate numbers for planning purposes.  Thank you!

Please try and observe an SPMA classroom in the coming weeks!  Parents of rising students should set up an observation of the next level’s classroom.  (For example, parents of graduating kindergartners should observe one of our Lower Elementary (1st grade classrooms.)  Parents of students who are in their 1st or 2nd year of their respective classrooms, should observe that class in the morning.  These observations can be scheduled in the main office and/or with your child’s teacher.  Watching a child at work is an amazing experience.

Information on this season’s particularly bad strains of the flu was sent home today.  Please remember our school’s communicable illness policy.  Confirmed diagnoses should be shared with the school in our efforts to keep other students and staff healthy and safe.  Thank you for your cooperation!
