We are monitoring the weather and will be announcing any changes to the Wacky Wednesday Variety Show by 8:00 am tomorrow morning.

SPMA’s Beta Club raised $400 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation!  Thank you to everyone who brought in change on Spirit Week’s aWareness Wednesday!

May 10- Thankful Thursday: Beta Club students will be passing out “Random Acts of Kindness” cards. You can participate, too!                                                                                                                                         

May 11- Future Friday: Dress up as your chosen future profession!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!  There is no doubt that we have the best teachers!  Thank you to the PTO, Room Moms, and all of our wonderful families for your support this year.


From the town: 

Office Park Road, Pope Avenue and New Orleans Road intersections
On Monday, May 7th, motorists should expect to encounter traffic interruptions at the Office Park Road, Pope Avenue and New Orleans Road intersection, while crews transition traffic control for the next phase of construction. Law enforcement officers will direct traffic through this intersection from approximately 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. while the electrical connections to the traffic signal are replaced.
There will also be temporary lane closures on New Orleans Road at the intersection of Pope Avenue to shift traffic lanes for construction phasing from Monday, May 7th through Wednesday, May 9th. Lane closures may occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Traffic will be controlled through the work zones with signs, traffic control devices and flagmen. Motorists traveling through the intersections may encounter brief delays. Please use extra caution when approaching the work zones.

Please leave ample time to arrive for 3:00 dismissal.  


Mother’s Day at SPMA will be celebrated this Friday!  Join us in the morning from 8:15-9:00 am as the children give classroom tours and demonstrate works to their special guests. *Note the Light Purple Room hosts at a later time of day.

Enrichment ends April with a bang!


Suzuki Violin & Piano Recitals are tomorrow!  Join Ms. Krimm & Mrs. DeFreitas as we congratulate our young musicians on a wonderful year of music!  The performers will play at 2:00 (violin) and 3:00 (piano) in the Manatees classroom, so please stop by.

The Upper Elementary and Kindergartners had a great time in Art class with Mrs. Wolfe!  We love to see this kind of collaborative leadership work amongst our levels.  Thank you for an awesome day!

Last day of March for the school year tomorrow!

Thank you to the PTO officers (Tiffany Ruawdi, Erin McMackin, Meghan Green, and Whitney Hughes) and all of their parent members!  Due to their hard work in fundraising, several teachers were able to attend the American Montessori Society conference in Denver.  We all came back full of new ideas, and loved the opportunity to collaborate with other educators from around the world!


Huge congratulations to the inaugural SPMA Golf Team on their tied match in their 2nd game in school history!  We are so proud of this young team and their fast growth and success!


We are still looking for volunteers on Thursday and Sunday afternoon from 12:30-5:00! It is such a fun time down on the 10th fairway.   Please email to sign-up or write your name on the lobby board! 


We will resume on Monday, April 2.  Also, there are only a few summer camp spaces left.  Don’t wait to fill out your forms: Preprimary Camp 2018    Primary & Elementary Camp 2018  We do offer an amazing Elementary Camp through 4th grade!

Distinction & Fun- what a way to kick off March!


Congratulations to the Junior Beta Club members and their club sponsor, Ms. Comeau (Upper El teacher), on being awarded the 2018 National Beta School of Merit status!  The club was honored due to the students’ experiences in leadership development and service involvement in addition to achievement in academic excellence.  Great job, Beta!

Sea Pines Montessori Academy is the only school on the island to be distinguished as an Eco-School through the National Wildlife Federation.  Students will be engaging in their environment by protecting it through problem-based learning and environmental education.  Look for more information on LEAF: Learning About Forests, WOW: Watersheds, Oceans, and Wetlands, and the GREEN HOUR to come.  We will be integrating studies in the classroom and in after school clubs.  If you’d like to participate in helping plan some of these activities, please email Melinda!

Welcome to March!


SPMA’s “Willy Wonka Jr.” is this Friday at 6:30 pm!

Tickets are available now (contact the office) and are $10.  Get them early because they’ll be $15 at the door!

The PTO will be rocking the concession stand, so be sure to head over and grab some snacks and amazing commemorative posters!  (Thanks PTO, Patty, & Alan)

Note: We will not have After School Clubs tomorrow (Thursday).  A make-up date will be announced in advance.   All actors and actresses have an early dismissal on Friday from the theater at 1:30 pm  (or if signed up for the bus, by 2:00 pm at school).  There is NO CREW for all students on Friday.

We can’t wait to see everyone at the Seahawk Cultural Center at HHIHS!

Wrapping up February

It’s that time again! Time for the final Box Top submission for the year…please print a fun template by clicking one of the 3 different links, and glue your box tops to the paper. Also, DON’T FORGET to print your child’s name and room “mascot” somewhere on the page so that we can keep track of the who is sending them in. This is very important to our children because the room that sends the most Box Tops in will earn an ice cream party!
All forms must be submitted to the basket in the entry foyer (under the coffee machine), no later than 5 pm THIS Thursday, 2/22.
